Large-scale introduction of information and communication technologies in public administration, called "e-government", defines a new way of interacting components of government and civil society. The basic purposes of the introduction of e-government are stated; they are to ensure freedom of access of citizens to reliable public information, cooperation between the state, citizens and businesses, to ensure transparency and democratic governance. The experience of other countries on the creation of e-government is generalized. It is alleged that the successful model of e-government is an instrument of acceleration of political and administrative reforms, contribute to the effective management of public resources, improving the quality of public services and strengthen public confidence in the authorities. Electronic public services contribute to the resistance of corruption and eradicate the bureaucracy of the state apparatus. The analysis of the status of e-government of the Republic of Tajikistan opens its untapped potential in the provision of public services. The main problem, the solution of which will contribute to full implementation of e-government that will allow the country to enter the global information community on the principles of equal partnership.
